Black Friday, 24th November, is when the UK’s biggest retailers slash their prices. In fact, some retailers will even extend their sales throughout November. This is the perfect opportunity for you to save on Christmas presents for the family without breaking the bank.
For some, Black Friday might conjure up images of shoppers camping out for days to be first in line, or desperate brawls over the last TV. But do not fear - you don't need to take out a new life assurance policy to shop the sales. Last year the immense crowds were nowhere to be seen, as retailers and shoppers took the bargain hunting online. And this Black Friday is set to be no different.
The biggest bargains to be found will be on tech – so Currys PC World, Argos, Amazon, and John Lewis are tipped to have some of the best offers.
However, previous years have shown you can find deals on much more, from holidays, to fashion, to homewares.
Here are our top tips to help you survive Black Friday:
• Shop around in advance and make a list of what you want to find in the sales
• Avoid the queues by shopping online
• If you’re heading to the shops in person, check the store opening hours in advance, as many will be opening earlier or closing later
• The safest way to spend is with a credit card – that way if anything goes wrong, or the item isn’t delivered, your bank foots the bill, not you
• If there’s a particular brand you want to shop at on Black Friday, follow them on social media, as they may be able to give you a sneak peek at deals, or share special offers
• Sign up to newsletters for your favourite brands. They may be offer you a discount code to save even more in the sales
